I am looking to get certified to teach ESL. I live in Greensboro, North Carolina. What is the best way to go about getting certified? I am looking for a classroom environment versus an online certification. I also have a five month old son and I would like more information about traveling/teaching with children.

Where are the best places to get certified for EFL? Where are the cheapest places to get certified? I realize thet they will probably not be the same place.

Just wondering if there is any course or book that you think is supa good to brush up on the finer points of grammar... I have only be teaching for 5 years and finished Maserts in Education(TESOL) and a TESOL certificate but found that my grammar knowledge is lacking the finer points.
Any input would be appreciated. I'm in Australia at the moment.
Thanks

Are there any chances for non-native speakers with a degree and a TEFL certificate getting hired? I noticed that most schools advertise for native English speakers. I came from a non-English speaking country but my English is that of a near native speaker. Is there a discrimination at this point?
I have learned English as a second language, speak it fluently as well, wouldn't it be great to share the experience to non-native speakers like me?

I am a 20 years experience teacher who wants to get a certification, because I simply haven't got one. I actually work at a school in Bogotà Colombia, but you are right. The time in which I didn't need a certification is gon, and nowadays it is becoming harder for me to get a good job because of that. How can I get a certification which might be valid worldwide? Are the TOEFL, FCE and/or CAE exams which I should take? Would they be enough? Which other kind of certification may I apply for?
The fact is that my English level is better than the one of the "Licenciados" in our Colombian Universities. However, I am being asked for certifications, and as I haven't gotten any, I have hardly found Jobs in simple schools.
Please help me.
God bless you.

I have a i-to-i tefl cert. Is this enough for work in Poland. I also have a cert to teach reading and writting as well as diploma in community services (welfare) and experience working with young people in summer camps and youth groups. I want to teach in Poland and want to know if I have enough qualifications etc.

I have the same question like Rose (10 June). I tried to find a job sending CV, etc.Up to now-no answer.I want to share some experience,to learn something more but alas. I would like to read smth more about non-native teachers working like ESL ones, about English organizations or foundations which sponsor non-native teachers.I have spent so many years learning this language and have no chance to practice it outside my country. In our country or not we acquaint others with English language and culture. It will be good for us if somebody lend a helping hand to people like me to experience smth new.

Would a tefl diploma be more useful than a degree?
Does it depend on the degree, for example how well is a tefl degree recognised?

Hi. I am a non-native but my English is good enough for teaching I was told (by a native teacher). So I am looking for courses where I can do a cert. I don't even have an idea how long that will take, what kinds of courses there are and how much it is going to cost me. I would also like to know what kind of jobs I would be able to get with which cert. There are so many courses around that I don't even know which one would be suitable for me. Can anyone help me with some information? That would be just great! Thank you very much!!!
