Not so much a comment as a point of information. Other teachers may be interested to know about these accelerated learning techniques which have been selling round UK schools and over the net since 1997, the techniques being originally developed in Edinburgh in the mid 80s for private clients from all over the UK.
The site is: www.edinburghtechniques.co.uk
and I will be happy to answer questions on the techniques which you or other teachers may have. Equally exciting are the new Thinking Skills techniques, due on site by early September, designed to raise IQ and promote pro-active intelligence.

I have taken a course which resulted in certification in ESL instruction and may take another refresher course soon. When I made inquiry into paying positions overseas was informed there were none if one did not have a BA degree...although I do not, have additional education (2 year college), experience teaching ESL in Iran (1965) am retired and would like to work overseas...some compensation would help. What are my chances of survival and/or paid employment?

I really enjoy your newsletters. I want to thank you for the myiads of valuable information you put out all the time! I am in the TESL at UC Berkeley Ext. Sometimes I really enjoy the classes, other I think are a bore and a total waste of money and time. One question I have that no one has answered to my satisfaction is how does one began a program where all the students are beginners and the instructor does not speak their native language?

Hello everyone! Well my first job experience has been a lesson. After many emails and clarifying the agreement I decided to accept a new position in No.China. A beginning school. But with "lots of potintial". After accepting and buying the ticket the employer changed his mind. My jaw dropped to the floor when I discovered that this just cost me 800.00. My change and my daughters change in tickiting. Not to worry. I picked my jaw up and thought,I'd rather be in So.China anyway.....I will be leaving Aug 7 deciding that being there in person was a safer bet.I trust I will find the perfect job with compensation for my perserverence.

I know this board is for comments, but I do not know who to contact with questions. Therefore, I am relying on whoever reads this to guide me in the right direction.
I am currently enrolled in college as an ESL major. I am actually majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. Spanish is the only foreign language taught at my college. Also, I think it is one of the most beautiful languages. Anyway, I am a single mother with three children, and my dream is to move to another country soon after I have finished my studies. My children have been exposed to other cultures. My ex-husband is Arab and my best friends are from India, Pakistan, and Iran. Can anyone recommend a country in which my children and I might adjust easily and/or one that would welcome us as one (four rather) of their own? Thank you for your time. My email address is: ajeanmarieh@yahoo.com
