HI Marlen!
What about the future for single mums in the EFL profession? Are there any countries or organisations that support women with children in the EFL profession?
Thanks
Jo

Hi Jo!
That's a great question. As a single guy, it's an area of EFL teaching that I haven't had much experience with; I rarely meet single moms teaching here in Japan.
Let me do some research for you and address this issue in the April newsletter! I'm sure there are other women who would really appreciate the resources!
Thanks for reading and posting!

Missleading job adverts:
I recently appllied for a job that was advertised in the Go-Abraod newsletter. The job was for a Screener and Recruiter Consultancy office in South Africa, with it's Head Office in the UK. You must have a work permit for South Africa, that was one of the requirements, being South African I applied for the job, knowing that I fit all the requirements.I tried to discuss the interview location and ask for a telephone interview. 3 emails later I'm told " absolutley not, you must resided in South Africa" because I would need to have an interview in Cape Town, they can't do a telephone interview, I'm currently working in Poland. If the ad. said you must reside in S.A. from the start I would not have applied for the job in the first place, seeing that my aim is to go back to work in SA.

Congratulations Marlen on your new position. I just read the ESLinstrut webpage and it is very informative. I will page the link on to all my list member teachers in Hokkaido.
Good luck and keep up the good work.

Hi Felicity!
OH NO! What a total pain...which newsletter was this again? It's been my experience that sometimes employers themselves are not exactly sure what they are looking for or how to find it...but in this case, it certainly would have made your life easier had you known all the specifics in the beginning!

KEN!
Thanks so much for dropping by - It feels good to have someone from the "home team" lurking around!
Hokkaido JALT has a great home page and I'll be sure to let the readers here at ESL know about it!
Ja Ne!

Hi Marlen!
I am very delighted that you enjoy and love teaching in Cambodia. As a Filipino, I know that people living in South East Asia are very friendly, warm and hospitable especially to foreigners like you. By the way, I am also an ESL teacher currently teaching in Zagreb, Croatia. It would be my pleasure to share with you my wonderful teaching experiences for the past 3 years.
All the best,
Curica
