Industry Events - TESOL Symposium on Keeping Language Diversity Alive

If you're planning on being in or near Alice Springs, Australia in the beginning of July, then you might want to consider attending the TESOL Symposium on Keeping Language Diversity Alive, which will take place on July 9, 2008.

The one-day conference will focus on the issue of keeping languages alive. Language extinction, language decline, and the process of language maintenance will all be explored. The conference provides English language teachers with an opportunity to discuss these topics with other teachers and experts on the subject.

The schedule is as follows:

8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m.: Check in/Tea and Coffee

9:30 a.m.–9:45 a.m.: Welcome and Opening Remarks

9:45 a.m.–12:00 p.m.: Featured Speakers: Introductory Presentations

12:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m.: Lunch

1:30 p.m.–3:15 p.m.: Featured Speakers

3:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.: Closing Session, Questions & Comments

Carol, a native English-speaker hailing from the small town of St. Joseph in Minnesota, USA, worked in China for more than 7 years. Carol holds a BA in Communications from the College of St. Benedict/ St. John's University, and a CELTA, and has just finished her MA TESOL course at Oxford Brookes University.
