Bunch Of Useful Websites!

The whole point of learning a language is to use it, right? And you never learn a language in isolation do you? Usually we learn with others and we learn a language as we are learning all kinds of other things.

In this blog I want to introduce you to, or remind you of, some great learning blogs...

...in all kinds of areas.

One term for this is 'life hacking'. Hacking of course is an old (1970s era) computer term for getting into a system and making it do what you want it to do - which may not be its original purpose.

With that in mind, I'll start with a website called, appropriately enough, Life Hacker. Check it out here - http://lifehacker.com/.

If it's apostrophes that make you crazy - especially the confusion between 'its' and 'it's - take a look here - http://unplugthetv.com/post/44147608044/its-vs-its.

And if you are looking for word histories, as in their original meaning and sometimes pronunciations, take a look here - http://www.etymonline.com/. I'll warn you now, this is word-nerd heaven.

And if you like, or can use documentary films to learn interesting real stories besides learning language, take a look here - http://documentaryheaven.com/.

Be sure to tell us about any other useful, educational or entertaining websites and let me know what it is about language learning that you find confounding, infuriating or endlessly intriguing.

Listen, read and speak. Make your new language your own.
