Online Poetry Wall

If you don't already use or enjoy poetry, you should try it. Poetry is short, direct and usually...

...memorable.

There is a style of poetry for every taste or occasion. And, once writers get over their intimidation, poetry can be absolutely enjoyable.

Here's a website where you can read the poetry of others and submit your own if you are daring enough - http://www.poetrywall.com/.

I write poetry and I find that the practice of capturing images or ideas in short, almost photographic language is perfect preparation for almost any style or purpose.

Here's a link to some quotes and a few short poems by one of my favorite writers, Robert Frost - https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/7715.Robert_Frost.

Frost is thought provoking even as he is accessible as a poet.

One of my favorite aspects of poetry is that it tends to take both writer and reader in unexpected directions.

“No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader. No surprise in the writer, no surprise in the reader.”
― Robert Frost

I haven't posted any of my poetry on this poetry wall, but I might do it later. Check it out. You might find a poem that captures your mood - and you just might be inspired to write your own.
